Finding inspiration

There are many ways to find inspiration when your crafting. It's everywhere around you. Maybe something your wearing, or packaging for a product, maybe an ad in a magazine. That's what I felt when I saw this ad for paint. How beautiful is this photograph and what a lovely color combination for a card or scrapbook page. My goal in the next couple days is to make a card inspired by this ad! Check back soon to see what I've come up with!

Beautiful Wings

What is my favorite crafting technique? Using my Big Shot to either die cut or emboss! Check out my cards and you'll see I use it for almost everything I make. And now with the new SU Embosslits die I can do both! This die embosses and cuts at the same time! Yeah!!!
For this card I ran the embosslit through my Big Shot using Pink Passion, Green Galore, Yoyo Yellow, and Tempting Turquoise cardstock. I then arranged the numerous beautiful butterflies on 2x2 squares mounted on black cardstock. The sentiment is from the new Well Scripted set from the Occasions Mini. I used my black marker to set the butterflies in motion and the pearls gave it just the right finishing touch! Hope you enjoy it!

Sweet PeaOh, I love the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt! How cute is this card! I made the flowers on the tag using felt buttons and leaves from this set which I then matted on Rose Red cardstock and some Pretty in Pink ribbon. The card is made with Pretty in Pink Designer Series paper matted on Old Olive cardstock. I used the new Sale-a-bration Scallop Trim punch on Old Olive cardstock, layered with Pretty in Pink cardstock and Rose Red ribbon. I just think this is the cutest card and so simple to make!

Vintage Vogue SetI love the way this card turned out! Using the Vintage Vogue set from the new Occasions Mini I stamped the trio of large flowers and then cut them out. The greenery was punched using our new Extra Large Two-Step punch and the smaller flowers were punched using our Boho Blossoms punch. Everything was then layered on the scalloped ovals, the smaller from our punch and the larger from our Big Shot die set. The "Happy Birthday" was stamped from Well Scripted, also in the new Occasions Mini. I used Perfect Plum, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla cardstock. First Cuttlebug Challenges of the new year!

This is the card I made this week for the challenges at http://www.thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/ and http://cuttlebugchallenge.blogspot.com/. After I embossed my paper I layered it with additional images, highlighted it with my sparkle jelly roll pen (I love this pen and can't tell you how much I use it!), added a gem at the neckline and some ribbon. A beautiful card, yet easy to make. After repeated attempts I've come to the conclusion that it just won't photograph as beautifully as it looks in person but I hope you enjoy it! Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I was really pleased with the way my Christmas cards turned out and wanted to share them with you. I stamped the bough image from the Peaceful Wishes stamp set and then went over them with my glitter gel pen. I got the beautiful ornament embellishments from the Michaels dollar bin (assortment of 5 in a package). Then I stamped the Be Merry image and mounted them on cardstock. Quick, easy, and beautiful! Just my kind of card!

I love this idea! You make fudge and then cut it out with cookie cutters! How simple is that? I got a big container of assorted cookie cutters at Wal-mart (I like the metal ones) and then just packaged them in the Stampin' Up medium clear bags and tied with ribbon. Quick, simple, and cute! My kind of project! Here is the fudge recipe I used:

Ingredients:
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) chocolate chips
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in medium, heavy-duty saucepan. Warm over lowest possible heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in nuts and vanilla extract. Spread evenly into baking pan lined with foil. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm. Lift from pan, press cookie cutters into fudge, remove excess fudge, lift from foil (similiar to when you do sugar cookies). Clean fudge away from sides of cookie cutters. Package as desired. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.

I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.

Could it be cardstock or inkpads or lace?

Or some stamps, I said, with a smile on my face.

And that's when I heard him! "Hi Santa" I said. He replied,

"You know, good girls should be in their beds".

"I know I should Santa, and now I've been caught.

But I was just so excited to see what you brought."

"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work..."

Then he shook his head quickly, and left with a jerk.

I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.

"You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year!"

Merry Christmas!

Last week I entered a card in the Cuttlebug Challenge and I found out today I won! I'm sooo excited!!! I won a $20.00 gift certificate to Custom Crops. I entered another card today in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. At this time of year we can come together to support each other and raise awareness of Breast Cancer. Even if you have not been touched by this disease, I'm sure you know someone that has. We pray for those that have survived and we remember those that have lost their battle.

After I embossed my paper I lightly sanded it to make my dots pop. I love the way it turned out! Then I added Cuttlebug florishes to the corners. The Stampin' Up Fashion Statements set had the perfect little bra stamp. And then of course you have to add a little bling! Hope you like it!

Or take them to the next level with some embellishments! I'm going to use mine as tags on my gifts! These are wonderful, especially for the money!
Turquoise Window Top Tin -- by Stampin' Up! Love, love, love these for storage. I have a bunch already that I use to store my scissors, hand punches, etc, and with the window on top you can see exactly what's inside. I ordered 5 more! And they're a lot cheaper now than when I ordered them originally! They're also great if you give baked goods as gifts! Very roomy and the lucky recipient can see what's inside!

After I stamped my images I painted them with Crystal Effects to give them some shine. I love the way it turned out! I love my Crystal Effects! I embossed my Old Olive paper to give it some dimension. And even though I used fall colors I tried to use images on my card that would be appropriate year round. Hope you like it!

SWEET LITTLE BIRDS!
I love the way this card turned out! I stamped my birds on patterned paper and then cut them out. I think I'm addicted to paper piecing! I'm sure some of you have noticed how much I use this technique at my classes. I know the cutting can be a little tedious but the result is well worth the effort!

MOM'S BIRTHDAY CARD
Here's the birthday card I made for my mom! It uses all my favorite things! Embossing with my Big Shot! Layering my stamp image! Using crystals for a little bling! It was a detailed card to make, but my mom loved it!

MAKING YOUR OWN CUSTOM RUB-ONS!

Hey Girls, imagine if you could make your own custom rub-on! Any text, any size, any time! Well you can and today I'm going to show you how!

Here's all you need:
Glossy page protector or transparency sheet
Popsicle stick
computer ink-jet printer

-Design an image, a title, or embellishment on your computer in a word processing program.

-Insert the transparency or page protector (cut to 8 ½” x 11”) into your printer so that the ink will be deposited on the shiny side of the transparency. (If you’re using a glossy page protector, either side will work).

-Change the print properties so that your document prints as a mirror image of itself.

-Print the document on “best” quality. This will deposit a thicker amount of ink onto the slick surface so that you can transfer it to a piece of paper.

-Let the ink dry onto the transparency for at least ten minutes. Do not touch the ink -- it will smear.

-Once the ink has dried place the title or embellishment over the piece of paper with the printed side touching the paper.

-Press firmly onto the transparency and use the end of a Popsicle stick to rub over all of the text. This transfers the ink to the piece of paper.

-Gently remove the transparency from the paper, and admire your custom-made rub-on design!

-Once you’ve transferred the image, the transparency or page protector you used can be wiped clean and re-used.

That's all it takes! It really that easy! So have fun crafting!
