TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK

Mosaic Tiles

Bring this time honored look to your stamping projects! Now you can use this ancient technique to make dazzling cards!

Choose a few of your favorite colors for your project. Since you'll only need small pieces of paper you might want to use your scraps.

Cut the cardstock you've chosen into various shapes. Experiment with different shapes and sizes for a unique look. You'll also want to cut a base piece for your mosaic.

Arrange the mosaic pieces on your base as desired and adhere. Cut away excess material from your image that might hang over the edge.

Put the final touch on your mosaic by applying Versamark and heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. This will create a nice glossy "tile" finish.

Finish card as desired!

2, 4, 6, 8 who do we appreciate? Me...

...hopefully! I thought this was a perfect name for this card since it's scored at...you guessed it...2, 4, 6, and 8!

Begin with a piece of card stock cut at 12 x 5.5

Line your cardstock in your cutter at the 1.5 inch mark. Place your cutting blade at the 8 inch mark on the verticle ruler and cut down to the 2 inch mark. Flip your cardstock over and do the same on the other side so that the slits line up.

Flip your cardstock lengthwise and score at 2, 4, 6, and 8 making sure that your 2" score lines up with the end of the slits you have just made.

Add your paper.
You will need:
6 pieces of patterned paper 1 3/4 x 1 1/4
3 pieces solid card stock cut 1 3/4 x 2 1/4
1 piece solid card stock 3 3/4 x 5 1/4
1 piece card stock 1 3/4 x 5 1/4

Decorate as desired. Fold the card along the score lines. To create the "pop out" effect, fold the center piece opposite to the top and bottom.
